MANA de San Diego - Hermanitas® promotes higher education, leadership development and peer support to young, local Latinas, ages 12–18, through a one-on-one mentorship program. Hermanitas® matches about 100-middle and high school girls with local professional women for a year. The Hermanitas® Mentor program began in 1987 and has served more than 600 girls. It was awarded the best Hermanitas® Program nationwide, by MANA National in 2007.

Hermanitas® is a national initiative focused on developing the talent and skills of Latinas in middle and high school through educational programs provided by the National Hermanitas Summer Institute, Girl Scout partnership, community service, and school based initiatives.
