Karina Wong - Estrella

Karina Wong first got involved with MANA when she became a board member in December of 2017. She joined because she wanted to be apart of an organization that promotes and supports education, community service, and leadership in women. Karina is currently a member of the scholarship committee and has supported the committee with the scholarship award ceremony and selection process.

Karina graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and with a Leadership Certificate. She has a multiple subject bilingual teaching credential and a Masters of Arts in Teaching. She has worked in the elementary school setting, providing intervention programs and literacy support. Her professional goal is to complete a Grant Writing Certificate to support various nonprofit organizations in San Diego and to be more involved with the San Diego Public Library Friends.

Karina’s proudest accomplishment with MANA is joining the Scholarship Committee. She said, “It was an honor to support the interview process of choosing the recipients by reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and notifying the awardees”.  Karina was able to jump into one of the busiest times for the scholarship committee, and helped make the process a great success.  Karina’s educational background and love of education, and her personal drive have made her a true asset on this committee.

Something that most people do not know is that she is a huge advocate for public libraries. Public libraries support so many members of our community with their free programs and resources. It has been a pleasure having you as a board member and we cannot wait to see all that you accomplish with us! Karina is a MANA Estrella!
